Bajaj Auto launches Riki e-rickshaw and e-cart with 4-hour charging and pan-India rollout

’s Intracity Business Unit, told CNBC-TV18 that the e-rickshaw category has grown from 10,000–12,000 units a month to nearly 45,000 units, now making up 38% of India’s three-wheeler market.
Despite more than 500 e-rickshaw brands operating in the country, Bajaj Auto secured a 4–5% market share during its pilot phase, he added.The first model in the company’s new P40 series, the Bajaj Riki P4005, has been introduced at ₹1.91 lakh (ex-showroom). The main Riki e-rickshaw is priced at ₹1.9 lakh (ex-showroom) and delivers a 149 km range, which Bajaj Auto says is the highest in the industry.
It supports a four-hour full charge, and features topple-free suspension, higher torque, increased gradeability, hill-hold assist and hydraulic brakes. The company also claims it will offer the lowest total cost of ownership in the segment.
Bajaj Auto is providing a three-year or 60,000 km warranty covering both the vehicle and its LFP battery. The Riki e-cart, priced at ₹2 lakh (ex-showroom), offers 20–25% more loading space than competing models.
Subandh added that Bajaj Auto sees strong growth potential in the three-wheeler business, driven by e-rickshaws and plans to launch more products under the Riki brand.
