In India, L3 three-wheelers are used mainly for low-speed passenger and goods transport. They operate below 25 km/h with motor power under 2 kW and can carry up to 310 kg of payload in addition to the driver.
L5 three-wheelers, designed for higher-performance passenger and cargo service, exceed 25 km/h, use motors above 0.25 kW and have a gross vehicle weight of up to 1500 kg (excluding the battery). Both companies say rapid charging will let drivers top up during short breaks and extend daily operations by up to 30%. The solution comes with a 3,000-cycle battery warranty and a digital platform that provides real-time charge tracking, predictive maintenance alerts and fleet analytics.
Exponent currently runs more than 160 charging stations in four cities, with plans to expand into metropolitan and tier II and III locations over the next year. Its cloud-based charging dashboard will be integrated into Kinetic Green’s fleet management app.
Sulajja Firodia Motwani, Founder and CEO of Kinetic Green, said, “This partnership marks a defining moment for India’s electric three-wheeler sector… we are empowering owner operators, small & large fleet operators to achieve unprecedented uptime and efficiency.”
Arun Vinayak, CEO and Co-Founder of Exponent Energy, said, “This collaboration allows us to embed our rapid charging platform into the entire portfolio of e3Ws in India — spanning both L5 & L3 segment — delivering unparalleled speed, reliability, and scalability.”
Kinetic Green manufactures electric two- and three-wheelers at its facility near Pune and recently raised $25 million in Series A funding from Greater Pacific Capital. Exponent Energy, founded in 2020, develops charging technology for commercial EVs using standard lithium-ion cells.
