IND vs NZ, 2nd ODI: Mitchell’s century helps New Zealand level series against India

Daryl Mitchell’s fighting hundred helped New Zealand clinch a seven-wicket win against India in the second ODI in Rajkot and level the three-match series 1-1.

Chasing a middling target of 285, the Kiwis lost openers Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls for 46 runs. However, Will Young and Mitchell’s 162-run partnership for the third wicket didn’t allow India to capitalise on the early breakthroughs.

Though Young fell with New Zealand still 77 runs adrift of the target, Glenn Phillips held one end up to ensure Mitchell’s century didn’t go in vain.

Earlier, India posted 284 for seven in 50 overs thanks to KL Rahul’s unbeaten 112 off 92 balls.
