Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26: Vidarbha’s Aman Mokhade equals record for most centuries in a single edition


Vidarbha opener Aman Mokhade equalled the record for most centuries by a batter in a single edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy during the semifinal against Karnataka at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground 1 in Bengaluru on Thursday.

Mokhade slammed his fifth century of the ongoing tournament to go level with former Vidarbha teammate Karun Nair and Tamil Nadu’s N. Jagadeesan.

Karun’s five centuries in a single season came during the 2024-25 edition of the 50-over tournament, during which he topped the run charts with 779 runs in eight innings and led Vidarbha to the title clash.

Meanwhile, Jagadeesan’s prolific run came during the 2022-23 season as the Tamil Nadu opener ended the tournament with a whopping 830 runs in eight innings though his team crashed out in the quarterfinals.

In the ongoing competition, Mokhade’s centuries have come against Bengal (110), Jammu & Kashmir (139), Baroda (150*), Uttar Pradesh (147) and Karnataka.

Mokhade is also the leading run-getter of the ongoing tournament.
