IND vs NZ 3rd ODI: Siraj confident India will fix mistakes in series decider
Addressing the media, Siraj admitted that missed chances proved costly but credited New Zealand batter Daryl Mitchell for making the most of his opportunities. The pacer also dismissed concerns over Ravindra Jadeja’s form, insisting the all-rounder is only one breakthrough away from a defining spell.
“The environment is very good,” Siraj said. “It feels really positive. It’s a great opportunity for all of us to express ourselves.” added Siraj.
Reflecting on the series, Siraj felt India had played good cricket overall. “In the first match, both bowling and batting units performed well. In the second game, despite losing wickets early, we still managed to post around 280. The partnership between KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja was important, and Nitish Kumar Reddy also contributed.”
However, Siraj acknowledged that lapses in the field hurt the team. “There were a few chances. Had it been taken, the result could have been different”, added Siraj.
“Also, full credit to Daryl Mitchell — he batted very well against both spin and pace. We didn’t execute our plans properly against him and the dew made it difficult for spinners to grip the ball, and it came nicely onto the bat. But we’re more prepared for this game and will get him out early.”
On Jadeja, Siraj was clear. “There is no concern about his form. His bowling has been very good. It’s just about that one wicket — once it comes, everything changes,” he said.
