When was the last time India lost ODI series at home?

New Zealand defeated India by 41 runs in the third ODI at the Holkar Stadium in Indore to clinch its first series win in India.

For the home side, it was the first series loss in its own backyard in three years. Australia was the last side to beat India in India, winning a three-match series 2-1.

Since then, India had won series against Australia, England, and South Africa, losing just two out of the combined nine games.

India has held a formidable record at home in the 50-over format. Since winning the ODI World Cup in 2011, India has played 27 series at home and lost just four. The defeat to New Zealand was the fifth.

Pakistan (2011/12), South Africa (2014/15) and Australia (2018/19 and 2022/23) were the only teams before the Kiwis to achieve the enviable feat.
