Devdutt Padikkal smashes maiden First-Class 200 during Ranji Trophy semifinal vs Uttarakhand

Karnataka captain Devdutt Padikkal smashed his maiden first-class double hundred during the Ranji Trophy semifinal game against Uttarakhand at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Monday.

The left-hander took 288 balls to achieve the feat, and his innings included 25 fours and two sixes. His previous best of 193 came in the seven-wicket win over Punjab in the 2023-24 season.

After being asked to bat, Karnataka lost opener Mayank Agarwal early. However, the 278-run partnership between opener KL Rahul and Padikkal put Karnataka in a dominating position. Rahul fell for 141 at the hands of Aditya Rawat, who held on to a caught-and-bowled opportunity.

Padikkal then added 129 runs for the third-wicket partnership and helped Karnataka cross the 400-run mark. At the time of writing this copy, Padikkal is unbeaten at 206 in 302 balls, batting alongside R Smaran.
