A special police team cracked a year-old theft case after a sustained investigation lasting over three months, traced the accused and recovered the entire stolen gold. The police handed over the recovered valuables to the rightful owner Shankarappa during the Sankranti festival.

According to the police, Shankarappa from Kodigenahalli village of Parigi mandal in Sri Sathya Sai district had lodged a complaint in April last year after burglars decamped with 35 tolas of gold worth ₹60 lakh from his home.

With three daughters in the family, the theft of gold threw them into severe financial and emotional distress. Yet, the undaunted family repeatedly approached the area police and Superintendent of Police S. Satish Kumar.

Shankarappa’s daughter Lalitha, along with her two siblings and father, on Monday (January 19, 2026) visited the district police office here and thanked SP Satish Kumar.

The SP said that the case was cracked through coordinated efforts by special teams and Pargi Circle police. “Legal proceedings against the accused are continuing, but for the family, the recovery marked the end of a painful chapter and the return of long-lost peace of mind,” Mr. Satish Kumar said.
