Vaishnaw, who holds portfolios including Railways, Information and Broadcasting, and Electronics and Information Technology, said people across sectors increasingly understand and appreciate the pace and depth of reforms initiated under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Referring to what he described as the “reforms express”, the minister highlighted landmark changes such as the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and the opening up of the nuclear sector, along with a series of structural reforms spanning nearly every part of the economy.
“People really appreciate the reforms in GST, the opening up of the nuclear sector. So many reforms are happening practically in every sector,” Vaishnaw said, adding that this broad-based reform push has translated into strong investment momentum across industries.
He noted that India’s economic fundamentals are also shaping global perceptions. With India widely seen as the fastest-growing major economy, inflation remains under control while government finances are described as healthy, supported by relatively low levels of debt in the broader economy. According to Vaishnaw, this combination of growth, stability, and fiscal discipline is reinforcing investor confidence at a time of global uncertainty.
Reflecting this rising stature, the minister revealed that discussions have begun around hosting a global economic forum in India on the lines of the World Economic Forum. The idea, informally described as an “Autumn Davos” in India, has emerged as a signal of international recognition of India’s economic scale and influence.
“This is a new idea which has come, which basically shows the recognition of our country, of our economy,” Vaishnaw said.
While no formal announcement has been made, the proposal underlines how India is increasingly being viewed not just as a fast-growing market, but as a central player in shaping global economic conversations. As reforms continue and investment inflows remain strong, policymakers see India’s growth trajectory as both resilient and structurally grounded.
