26 school bus drivers found to be drunk driving

Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) conducted a special drive checking school buses and other vehicles ferrying schoolchildren on Friday.

During the drive, the police checked 5,110 drivers and found 26 of them driving under the influence of alcohol.

Considering this as a serious offence since these drivers were ferrying children, the BTP officials have seized the driving licences of these 26 drivers. The licences would be submitted to the RTO recommending for their suspension, the BTP said.

Meanwhile, the police also conducted a city-wide special drive to check one-way and wrong side driving on January 21 and 22 and booked 5,458 cases for violating traffic rules.
