After Kaminey, Haider and Rangoon, Shahid Kapoor is reuniting with Vishal Bhardwaj on the Sajid Nadiadwala produced O Romeo. The film hit the big screens today, and has taken an average start at the box office as per early estimates. The national chains data and the occupancy at non-national chains indicate that the first day of O Romeo could be in the range of Rs. 8 crores to Rs. 8.50 crores, which is the biggest to date for this combo.

Having said that, the start is however not big enough for the film. O Romeo is an expensive film made on a budget of Rs. 130 crores, and the film had to open double digit to have things rolling in its favour. It’s a must for this action thriller to show a big jump in business on Saturday and Sunday to stay in the race to emerge as a success story.

There is a Valentine’s Day holiday on Saturday, which should help it with a bigger than usual jump, but the cost dictates more than just the usual trend. The start is decent for the star-cast and genre, but a little below the mark for the budget. The eyes are now on the weekend trend, as O Romeo should multiply quickly and then show a strong hold in business on Monday.

Vishal Bhardwaj films have a dedicated audience, and the hope is on them to come to watch the film over the weekend.
