Around 400 National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers from over 30 colleges participated in a walkathon held as part of efforts to create awareness on road safety. 

The walkathon, jointly organised by the Transport Department and the NSS, started from Gandhi Statue and after passing through Gingee Salai, Mission Street ended at Bharathi Park. The event was flagged off by Deputy Transport Commissioner Vijay Raj and Executive Engineer K. V. Seetharaman.

State NSS officer Sathish Kumar and RTOs Prabhakara Rao and Ramesh participated in the walkathon, a release here said.
