Eicher Pro X EV becomes first electric truck to finish Kashmir to Kanyakumari in 6-day run


Eicher Trucks and Buses, on Wednesday, announced that its Pro X EV has become the first commercially available electric small truck to complete the Kashmir–Kanyakumari (K2K) route in a fully loaded condition.The company said the run also set the fastest time recorded by a commercially available electric truck on the route and was recognised by the India Book of Records.
The journey covered more than 4,000 km in six days. It started in Srinagar on January 20, 2026, and ended in Kanyakumari on January 26, 2026. An adjudicator from the India Book of Records accompanied the vehicle to verify the route, load, charging halts, distance and total journey time.

The truck used public charging stations accessed through the MyEicher App during the trip. The company said the run demonstrated that electric commercial vehicles can operate across long distances, varied terrain and different climate zones in India.

Recognised by the India Book of Records (IBR), the record-setting run covered over 4,000 kilometres in 6 days beginning in Srinagar on January 20, 2026, and concluding in Kanyakumari on January 26, 2026.

The company said the expedition aimed to address concerns about range, charging access and operational reliability in electric commercial vehicles. It said the run also showed that expanding charging infrastructure can support long-haul electric freight movement in India.

VE Commercial Vehicles Limited is a joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors Limited. The company manufactures and sells Eicher trucks and buses, distributes Volvo Trucks in India, and produces engines and components for domestic and export markets.
