From Shreyanka to Anushka: Five Indian players who impressed in WPL 2026

The 2026 Women’s Premier League season came to a thrilling end on Thursday, with Royal Challengers Bengaluru lifting its second WPL title after beating Delhi Capitals by six wickets at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.

As in every season, this edition too saw several Indian domestic players step up and play key roles for their teams.

Here’s a look at five Indian players who impressed with their performances in WPL 2026.

Shreyanka Patil (RCB)

After missing last season due to injury, the sprightly off-spinner was retained by the franchise ahead of the mega auction, and she duly repaid the faith. She finished her comeback season with 11 wickets, including a five-wicket haul against Gujarat Giants in the league stage.

N. Shree Charani (DC)

Left-arm spinner Charani continued to quietly make an impact with the ball. The ODI World Cup winner finished with 14 wickets, including a four-wicket haul against Gujarat.

Vaishnavi Sharma (MI)

The young left-arm spinner went unsold at the auction but was later brought in by Mumbai Indians as an injury replacement for G. Kamalini. Though she played only three matches and bowled eight overs, Vaishnavi picked up a wicket while conceding at a respectable economy rate of 7.

Anushka Sharma (GG)

Another product of Madhya Pradesh’s talent pipeline, Anushka turned heads in her WPL debut season. She made 177 runs in seven innings, with a highest score of 44 against UP Warriorz.

Harleen Deol (UPW)

The ODI World Cup winner found herself in the spotlight for reasons beyond her control this season, but to her credit, she responded in style. Against Delhi Capitals, she was controversially ‘retired out’ by head coach Abhishek Nayar when she was on 47 off 36 balls. But just a day later, against Mumbai Indians, she struck back with a 32-ball half-century.

For UP Warriorz, Harleen finished as the highest Indian run-scorer, making 167 runs in eight innings.
