On October 15, the Delhi High Court asked social media websites to remove certain objectionable social media posts targeting Hrithik Roshan. The order was passed after the War (2019) actor filed a suit to safeguard his name, image, likeness, voice, and other personality attributes from unauthorised commercial use and misuse. Several celebrities, including Amitabh Bachchan, Anil Kapoor and singer Kumar Sanu, have also moved court to protect their personality rights amid rising misuse and deepfakes.

Hrithik Roshan BREAKS silence on filing legal suit amid deepfake fears: “Better to be protective NOW than do damage control later”In an interview to BrandEquity, Hrithik Roshan broke the silence on what made him approach the court. The superstar said, “I recently filed a suit as a protective measure because the day and age has come where we do have to move with technology. It is going to be something that is going to impregnate all aspects of our lives. It’s very important to be at a vantage point now, because you can be protective about it right now, which is better than doing some damage control with the likes of these deep fakes.”

The actor further said, “I have taken certain measures and protected myself, but it (AI) is going to be a part of life and we have to use it in our creative flow; it (AI) can be used as an incredibly amazing device.”

In the same interview, he also opened up about his banner, HRX Films, “Some big commercial films I have done are a community experience where you have the entire theatre clapping. But then there are some films that you watch just by yourself, and you feel fulfilled, you cry, and it changes you from the inside. It’s cathartic and that catharsis, shall I say, I never get in a highly commercial banger of a film. That cathartic journey is always missed. So, HRX Films is an attempt to bring these two together and try to see if we can hit that sweet spot.”
