Ampere Nexus e-scooter enters Asia Book of Records after 70-hairpin-turn Kolli Hills climb
The company said the route was used to demonstrate its “Built for Bharat” engineering approach, under which vehicles are designed, developed and validated for Indian riding conditions, including steep gradients, broken hill roads, sharp turns and sustained load cycles.
Vikas Singh, Managing Director, Greaves Electric Mobility, said: “India’s riding conditions are among the most demanding in the world, and our approach has always been to engineer electric vehicles that are built for Bharat, not just for ideal test environments.”The record, which took place on January 7, 2026, began at 7:00 am and was completed in 22 minutes and 10 seconds. The ascent was carried out from Belukurichi to the summit of the Kolli Hills. Officials from the Asia Book of Records validated and confirmed the achievement on the same day.

He added, “The Kolli Hills ascent is a real-world validation of that philosophy… Achievements like this reaffirm our focus on building electric mobility solutions that can perform reliably across tough terrains.”
The company said the Ampere Nexus uses an LFP battery and a high-tensile steel chassis for durability on demanding terrain. It said the battery is designed to operate between –40°C and 60°C and to deliver usable power during long uphill stretches, repeated braking and load changes.
The company also said the scooter’s motor and software are tuned to deliver instant torque for climbs, regenerative braking for descents and traction control for slippery surfaces. It added that a high-strength steel chassis helps maintain balance and predictability during continuous hairpin bends, while the motor is tuned for sustained output and consistent braking response.
Greaves Electric Mobility has already set multiple endurance records with its Ampere range. The Ampere Magnus Neo rode 2,365 km from Bengaluru to Delhi in January 2025. In 2024, an Ampere scooter completed a 10,252.6 km journey from Reasi to Kanyakumari, covering 115 towns and cities.
Two Ampere Nexus scooters also rode to within 200 metres of the Line of Control at Shipki La Pass at 13,200 ft. Other records include an Ampere scooter towing a Toyota Hilux for 2 km and drawing a 17,100 sq ft logo on Dholavira’s white sands.
