BCCI announces Rs 7.5 crore cash prize for India U-19 team after World Cup win


The BCCI has announced a cash reward of Rs 7.5 crore for the Indian men’s Under-19 team following its World Cup triumph in Harare.

Ayush Mhatre’s side beat England by 100 runs to clinch India’s sixth men’s Under-19 World Cup title.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia told ANI, “The whole country and the BCCI are proud of our Under-19 side on their Under-19 World Cup 2026 victory. The way our team defeated England in the final, and how they remained undefeated throughout the tournament, we are all proud. The BCCI will reward the team with a Rs 7.5 crore cash prize.”

India team, coached by Hrishikesh Kanitkar, went undefeated throughout its campaign.

In the final, India set England a daunting target of 412, with 14-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi playing an incredible knock of 175 off 80 balls. In response, England was dismissed for 311 in 40.2 overs.

BCCI president Mithun Manhas also congratulated the team on its successful campaign. He said, “Winning the Under-19 World Cup for the sixth time is a remarkable achievement and a reflection of India’s strength in age-group cricket. This team played with confidence and character throughout the tournament. Holding both the men’s and women’s Under-19 World Cup titles is a matter of immense pride and highlights the depth of our cricketing structure.”
