T20 World Cup 2026: Formidable England faces gutsy Nepal in Mumbai

Harry Brook will hope England hits the top gear when the two-time champion takes on Nepal in its T20 World Cup opener in Mumbai on Sunday.

England has had a perfect build-up to the T20 World Cup and will be one of the teams to beat at the competition.

Placed in Group C along with debutant Italy, Nepal, Scotland and West Indies, England knows it will have to hit the ground running.

Last year, England won 11 out of its 17 T20Is while losing only two, and the team has tremendous firepower across the board to pile up or chase big totals.

However, bowling in dewy conditions would be a challenge, and England will need its experienced campaigner, Adil Rashid, to come up with solutions.

For Nepal, it is another opportunity to make a mark on the world stage. In the last edition, it almost beat South Africa, with the Proteas winning by a mere one run, and shot out Bangladesh for 106.

Amongst one of Nepal’s most recent achievements is a 2-1 victory over two-time T20 World Cup winner West Indies, a feat that would certainly fuel Nepal’s fire.

Nepal also has fared well in the past, making the final of a tri-series last June which involved the Netherlands and Scotland. It had also made the summit clash of a T20I quadrangular series featuring Qatar, Hong Kong and Kuwait.
