BJP distances itself from MLA Adinarayana Reddy’s remarks

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Andhra Pradesh unit has made it clear that it does not endorse the recent remarks made by its Jammalamadugu MLA, Ch. Adinarayana Reddy, asserting that the comments were ‘personal and not reflective of the party’s official stand’. 

The clarification came after the issue was discussed in the BJP Legislature Party meeting on Tuesday. Mr. Adinarayana Reddy recently stated that without the BJP in the coalition, there would be neither the Telugu Desam Party nor the Jana Sena Party in the State.

Addressing the media, BJP State president P.V.N. Madhav said Mr. Adinarayana Reddy had spoken in his individual capacity, without the party’s mandate. “The BJP does not agree with those remarks. An explanation will be sought from him,” he said.

Mr. Madhav said the meeting reviewed political developments, governance issues, and future joint programmes with the coalition partners.

He said public grievances and issues related to major development projects would be brought to the government’s notice. “The BJP is committed to working with its coalition partners for achieving a Viksit Bharat and a Viksit Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

The BJP leaders also criticised the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP), accusing it of indulging in false propaganda even in sensitive matters such as the Tirupati laddu issue.

They alleged that YSRCP leaders were resorting to abusive language and ‘dirty politics’ to divert attention from development initiatives.

Referring to the Union Budget, BJP MLA Sujana Chowdary said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was making sustained efforts to bring the Central funds to the State. He highlighted the focus on agriculture branding, tourism, the blue economy, women’s development, and sector-wise budget allocation aligned with the post–NITI Aayog approach.

BJP MLC Somu Veerraju said welfare spending had increased significantly under the Narendra Modi-led government, with allocations rising sharply compared to the previous Congress regimes. He said priority was being given to water security, rural infrastructure, and welfare of backward communities.

BJP MLA Vishnukumar Raju said the Union Budget accorded top priority to Andhra Pradesh, with substantial allocations for Amaravati, Polavaram, railways, drinking water, and urban development.
