Alliance should last for at least 15 years to ensure a stable government, says Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday stressed the need for TDP-Jana Sena Party (JSP)-BJP alliance to last for at least 15 years so that Andhra Pradesh would have a stable government like in Gujarat, while noting that the State would have struggled to implement many programmes without the Central assistance.

Addressing the NDA Legislature Party meeting at the Legislative Assembly, Mr. Naidu said that there were no differences within the alliance, which, he called, a good sign, and emphasised that continued unity was a must for development of the State.

He urged the MLAs to earn good reputation by doing the kind of work expected from them, and asserted that public support for the alliance was stronger than it was before the 2024 elections.

The State government achieved some significant things during the last 20 months, mainly including Central assistance to Amaravati and Polavaram projects and the support extended by it in saving the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant. Besides, the government could deliver the Super Six welfare schemes in spite of severe constraints.

Mr. Naidu said the Budget Session of the Legislature should be a meaningful exercise in which all the MLCs and MLAs should take an active part, and cautioned them against using abusive language in the House.

“Every member should be compulsorily present from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and do their homework in order to highlight the issues faced by the people in their constituencies. ​The MLAs should own up the government schemes to implement them effectively,” he said.

Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan said the State was moving towards progress after successfully overcoming five years of destruction during the YSR Congress Party reign, and advised the leaders to resolve the differences, if any, amicably as the alliance should be intact for a long time to come in the State’s interests. The spirit with which the TDP,  JSP and BJP worked in the run-up to the 2024 elections should continue, he exhorted.

IT & HRD Minister Nara Lokesh, BJP Floor leader in the Assembly P. Vishnu Kumar Raju and others took part in the deliberations.
