Fatima Sana Shaikh has once again spoken candidly about her long-standing battle with epilepsy and the impact it has had on both her personal life and professional commitments. Known for being open about her health journey, the actress recently reflected on how the condition once left her anxious about public appearances.

As I’ve grown older, I’m learning to be more comfortable in my skin,” she told the magazine Cosmopolitan India recently, acknowledging how her perspective has evolved over time.

Shaikh has previously addressed how epilepsy affects her work schedule. In an earlier interaction with Filmfare, she had shared, “There are days when I simply can’t shoot. Sometimes my episodes cause shoots to be cancelled, and there are days when my migraines are so severe I’m unable to work,” highlighting the unpredictability of the condition and its professional consequences.

In 2022, on the occasion of Epilepsy Day, the actress used social media to encourage empathy and self-compassion. In an Instagram post, she wrote, “Happy epilepsy day… And a photo dump of selfies. Give a tight hug to anyone who has epilepsy today 🙂 And to everyone who is going through it, give yourself a pat on your back. Sab khush, toh hum khush. Baaki, life maine zyaada tension nahi lene ka (sirf dene ka) :p”

Over the years, Shaikh has balanced her health challenges with a steadily growing body of work. This year marks a decade since she stepped into the spotlight, and 2025 proved to be particularly busy. She featured in the Netflix original film Aap Jaisa Koi alongside R Madhavan, appeared in Metro… In Dino, and starred in Gustaakh Ishq with Vijay Varma and Naseeruddin Shah.

Looking ahead to 2026, Shaikh is set to feature in an untitled spy drama series opposite Bobby Deol, along with another untitled police procedural project.

By continuing to speak openly about epilepsy, Fatima Sana Shaikh has contributed to conversations around chronic illness, workplace challenges, and self-acceptance—topics that remain relevant within and beyond the entertainment industry.
