Farah Khan reveals she first wanted Sameera Reddy for Sushmita Sen’s role in Main Hoon Na : Bollywood News

In a recent revelation that has sparked nostalgia and surprise among Bollywood fans, filmmaker-choreographer Farah Khan said she initially planned to cast Sameera Reddy in the role that eventually went to Sushmita Sen in the 2004 film Main Hoon Na.

Farah Khan reveals she first wanted Sameera Reddy for Sushmita Sen’s role in Main Hoon NaDuring a YouTube vlog recorded at Sameera’s residence in Goa, Farah told the actress that she had considered her for the part of Chandni, the glamorous college professor who became one of Main Hoon Na’s most memorable characters. Farah said she first noticed Sameera in the music video for the song “Aahista Kijiye Baatein” where the actress was seen in traditional Indian attire, and felt she would suit the role perfectly.

Reacting with surprise, Sameera asked Farah why she was not ultimately cast in the film. Farah explained that by the time casting was being finalised for Main Hoon Na, Sameera had already signed on for Maine Dil Tujhko Diya (2002), a film she debuted in opposite Sohail Khan, and her commitments there prevented her from joining Farah’s project.

As a result, Farah offered the role to Sushmita Sen, who accepted and went on to give a widely appreciated performance. Sushmita’s character, known for her striking saree looks and on-screen chemistry with co-star Shah Rukh Khan, became one of the film’s standout elements. Main Hoon Na marked Farah Khan’s directorial debut and became one of the biggest box-office hits of 2004, also starring Shah Rukh Khan, Amrita Rao, Zayed Khan and Suniel Shetty.
