Under the International Cricket Council’s regulations for the 2026 T20 World Cup Super 8 stage, there are no reserve days. A minimum of five overs per side must be completed for a result to be declared. If that threshold is not met by the cut-off time, the match will be abandoned as a No Result, with both teams sharing the points.
The forecast does little to ease concerns. There is roughly a 75 per cent chance of rain in Colombo on Saturday, along with an 18 per cent probability of thunderstorms. Evening showers remain a possibility, and persistent rain on Friday had already forced Pakistan to cancel its training session.
With crucial Super 8 points at stake, the weather could have a significant say before a ball is even bowled.
