Pakistan now has just one point in the Super Eight, earned from its washed out game against New Zealand.
England leads Group 1 with four points and has already qualified for the semifinals.
Remaining games in Group 2 (Super Eight)
1. Sri Lanka vs New Zealand (February 25)
2. England vs New Zealand (February 27)
3. Sri Lanka vs Pakistan (February 28)
How can Pakistan qualify for T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal?
Pakistan still has a mathematical chance to make it out of Group 2. For that to happen, it is imperative that Pakistan wins its final game against Sri Lanka.
But, that win won’t be sufficient if other results in the group go against Pakistan’s favour.
Sri Lanka faces New Zealand next in Group 1, on Wednesday. The best-case scenario for Pakistan is if Sri Lanka wins the game.
But, it New Zealand beats Sri Lanka, Pakistan will stay alive in the tournament only if the Kiwis lose their final game to England.
A win over Sri Lanka would then put Pakistan level on points with New Zealand for the second spot, with NRR coming into play.
