India becomes first team to qualify for four men’s T20 World Cup finals

India became the first team to make it to four men’s T20 World Cup finals, after it beat England by seven runs in the semifinal at the Wankhede on Thursday.

India had entered the title clash in 2007, 2014 and 2024.

With its win on Thursday, India also became the third team to make it to successive T20 World Cup finals, after Pakistan (2007 and 2009) and Sri Lanka (2012 and 2014).

England is the only other team to make it to at least three T20 World Cup finals – 2010, 2016 and 2021.

India will face New Zealand in the final on Sunday in Ahmedabad. The Men in Blue can become the first team to win back-to-back T20 World Cups and also become the first host nation to triumph in the tournament.

A win could also mean India can become the most successful team in T20 World Cup history, as it would be its third title, taking it past England (2) and West Indies (2).
