Huawei returns to the running watch segment after 5 years, what changed this time? Its battery will last 14 days

Huawei has globally launched its new smartwatch Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 at an event held in Madrid. This is the company’s return to the professional running watch segment after about five years. In this event, the company also introduced Huawei Mate 80 Pro and Huawei Mate Pad Mini. Its price in the UK has been kept at GBP 350 (approximately ₹ 42,900) and it is available in Dawn Orange, Dusk Blue and Midline Black colors.

Huawei Watch GT Runner 2 has a 1.32-inch AMOLED display, whose resolution is 466×466 pixels and it supports peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. The screen is protected with second generation Kunlul glass, which increases its strength.

The case, bezel and buttons of the watch are made of titanium alloy, making it both light and strong. It weighs around 34.5 grams without the strap and has an AirDry woven strap, which claims better airflow.

Get intelligent mode
For running enthusiasts, a new intelligent mode has been given in it. This feature provides users with structured training plans, personalized race preparation and real-time race data. Runners can track their speed, estimated finish time and target gap. Apart from this, advanced metrics like digital pacer, fueling reminder and lactate threshold and running power are also available.

The new 3D floating antenna technology is claimed to improve positioning accuracy by up to 20 percent. It has dual-band L1+L5 GPS and support for multiple satellite systems, allowing route tracking even in tunnels or congested cities. Health features include ECG, heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen tracking, sleep and stress monitoring.

Talking about the battery, it can last up to 14 days in light use and 7 days in normal use. Overall, this smartwatch has come as an advanced and strong option for both professional and amateur runners.
