Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, said that while debating the energy consumption of AI models, one should also consider the resources spent on the education and development of humans. He advocated democratizing AI.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman recently said something interesting regarding the ongoing debate on AI’s energy consumption. He said that people often ask how much electricity it takes to train an AI model, but no one thinks that it also takes a lot of time and resources to ‘train’ a human being.
He explained in simple words that it takes about 20 years for a person to become wise. During this period, a lot of resources are spent on food, education, care and other needs. That is, if questions are raised about the electricity used in training AI, then we should also see how much energy is spent in the education and development of humans.
India can become the biggest market for AI
Sam Altman came to India for AI Impact Summit. Here he said that India is currently leading in the world in terms of adoption of AI. According to him, India is not only using AI but is also playing a big role in taking this technology forward. India can become one of the biggest markets for AI in the coming times.
He said another important thing. Altman believes that if the power of AI is limited in the hands of one company or country, then it can be dangerous. He says that AI should be made available to as many people as possible. Even though some challenges may come with it, it is more important to empower people.
OpenAI’s strategy is also the same. The company adopts the method of ‘iterative deployment’. This means introducing AI tools to people gradually, so that they can learn to use them, even if they are not completely perfect. Overall, Sam Altman’s message is clear – instead of fearing AI, it should be handed over to people wisely.
