According to Downdetector’s post, ‘User reports indicate problems with YouTube TV since 8:13 PM EST.’ That means the problems started after 8:13 pm American time. This outage was not limited to America only, but complaints were also received from many parts of the world.
Thousands of users affected in India also
In India too, a large number of users complained about YouTube being down. More than 18,000 reports were filed on Downdetector as of 6:42 am IST. According to statistics, 56% of users in the US faced problems with the app, 21% had trouble accessing the website, while 12% of users could not log in.
Whereas in India, 71% users faced problems on YouTube app, while 18% people reported problems in live streaming. Many users saw the error message ‘Something went wrong’ while opening the app.
YouTube responded
YouTube acknowledged the outage through a social media post and said the team is investigating the problem. The company assured that an update will be shared as soon as more information becomes available.
According to data from outage tracking website Downdetector, thousands of reports were filed in the US. Along with YouTube, complaints suddenly increased in other major tech services also.
Google, AWS and Cloudflare also affected
According to Downdetector data:
- More than 2,600 complaints related to Google were filed
- More than 1,000 reports came in for Amazon Web Services (AWS)
- Nearly 400 complaints related to Cloudflare surfaced
These data hint that this problem may not be limited to YouTube alone, but may be related to the broader cloud or network infrastructure.
Meanwhile, users on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) have created a flood of memes. Some people were asking ‘Is YouTube down now?’, while many users shared funny posts and expressed hope that the platform would be restored soon. At present, users are waiting for YouTube to become completely normal.
