Ellis, who was an integral part of CSK’s death bowling plans for the tournament, has suffered a hamstring injury, and CEO Kasi Viswanthan has confirmed that the team is on the hunt for a replacement.
Ellis’ absence means that the five-time champion will be forced to rework its playing XII in order to accomodate for him. Matt Henry’s place in the side becomes almost confirmed, while Jamie Overton could take over death-bowling responsibilities, a role he did on occasion for England at the T20 World Cup.
