IPL 2026: SRH all-rounder Jack Edwards ruled out with injury

Australia and Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Jack Edwards has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League 2026 season with a foot injury.

The 2016 champion had signed Edwards for Rs. 3 crore in the auction in December, overcoming a fierce bidding war with Chennai Super Kings to seal the Australian’s signature. The 2026 edition of the tournament would have been Edwards’ maiden IPL season.

The 31-year-old made his international debut during Australia’s tour of Pakistan in January, having had a steller season with the ball for the Sydney Sixers in the Big Bash League. Edwards took 19 wickets in 13 appearances, and chipped in with 133 runs as well.

He also impressed for Washington Freedom in Major League Cricket, taking 14 wickets in 12 appearances along with 152 runs.

Edwards’ injury means that SRH’s overseas contingent shrinks further, with captain Pat Cummins set to miss the first few matches of the season and doubts over the fitness of fast bowler Eshan Malinga.

SRH has not named a replacement for Edwards yet.
