It was a special knock from Rizvi, who came into bat when DC were under immense pressure, reeling at 30/4 after five overs. It was once again the team that won the toss and batted second which emerged victorious.
Axar Patel opted to bowl and DC’s bowlers, led by Natarajan (3/29) and Ngidi (3/27), bowled out LSG for just 142 in 18.4 overs. LSG’s explosive batting lineup, consisting of Nicholas Pooran, Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram, were all dismissed cheaply.
LSG got to the best possible start with the ball, with Mohammed Shami removing KL Rahul on the very first ball. Three more wickets fell thereafter to leave DC under immense pressure in the powerplay.
But Rizvi and Stubbs consolidated, and with not a big target to chase, took the time to slowly rebuild the innings before taking the attack to the LSG’s bowlers, chasing down the total with three overs to spare. Rizvi ended unbeaten on 72 from 47 balls, and Stubbs ended unbeaten on 39 from 32 balls.
