Pathirana trained here on Saturday, raising hopes of his availability against Sunrisers Hyderabad. However, bowling coach Tim Southee chose to be tentative about his inclusion, given the mandatory overseas pool shuffle that must follow.
“He’s been around the group for a while now. We’ll assess the conditions and make a decision,” he said.

“Teams that have been able to take wickets early have set up their innings nicely. [Against SRH] it’s important to try and win the PowerPlay by taking wickets as early as you can.”

“It’s an exciting challenge for our bowlers. We know how dangerous SRH is, especially the top three and then the likes of Heinrich Klaasen in the middle.”
