Toyota Hybrid Cars Sales: Toyota crosses the figure of 3 lakh hybrid cars in India, Hyryder and Hycross shine

Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM) has achieved the important milestone of 3 lakh units of hybrid vehicle sales in India. This achievement reflects the growing popularity of self-charging strong hybrid technology. Especially when Indian buyers are looking for a practical option between petrol cars and full electric vehicles. No need for external charging, better mileage and lower running costs have made hybrids mainstream.

Models like the Urban Cruiser Hyrider and Innova Hycross popularized hybrids beyond the premium segment to the family and mid-size segments. This milestone proves the success of Toyota’s multi-pathway strategy, which is promoting sustainable mobility. The demand for hybrid is increasing rapidly in the Indian market, because this technology is proving to be most suitable for city traffic and long drives.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor recently announced that the total sales of its hybrid vehicles have crossed 3 lakh units. Urban Cruiser Hyrider and Innova Hycross have played the biggest role in this and both these models account for about 78% of the total hybrid sales. Premium models like Camry Hybrid and Vellfire have also contributed. This milestone is only for Strong Hybrids (self-charging), which also includes an 8-year hybrid battery warranty. The company said that this achievement shows customer confidence and acceptance of hybrid technology.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyrider

This is the company’s first mainstream hybrid SUV, which popularized hybrids in the mid-size SUV segment. Since its launch in 2022, this model is known for its excellent mileage and low fuel consumption. Its strong hybrid system runs mostly on electric mode in stop-go traffic of the city, which saves a lot of running cost. The Hyrider not only increased Toyota’s hybrid sales but also created a strong position against competing hybrid SUVs like the Maruti Grand Vitara. This model is popular among family users and those who want an SUV but also want better economy.

Toyota Innova Hycross

Innova Hycross completely changed the MPV segment. The Innova name is already synonymous with reliability, but the Hycross takes it to the next level with hybrid technology. It has sold more than 1 lakh units since its launch and is on top in overall hybrid sales. Its 2.0L hybrid system is ideal for long drives and family use, where up to 60% of the time can be run in electric mode.
