Work seamlessly from mobile to tablet, Android 17 update

Google is bringing a big change for the users with its new update Android 17. In this update, the company can introduce a new feature called ‘Continue On’, which will give an experience exactly like Apple’s Continuity feature. With the help of this feature, users will be able to continue the work started on one device on another device without any interruption.

In today’s time, people use more than one device like smartphone, tablet and laptop. But switching tasks between these devices is not always easy. To solve this problem, Google has designed the Continue On feature.

What is Continue On feature?
‘Continue On’ is a cross-device feature that allows users to easily switch from one device to another within the Android ecosystem. This means that if you start working on a document, email or app on your mobile, you can continue it directly on your tablet or other Android device.

According to Google, this feature will work on the devices linked to the same Google account of the users. As soon as you switch devices, your work will automatically appear on the other device.

How will it work?
The first focus of this feature will be on mobile-to-tablet transition. For example, if you’re editing a file in Google Docs on your phone, you can open it on your tablet and continue editing from there. This handoff system will be easily available through the taskbar.

Additionally, Continue On will work in two modes:

  • App-to-App Handoff
  • Web-based handoff (via Chrome)
  • If the same app is not available on any device, this feature will help in continuing the work through the web version.
  • Android ecosystem will become stronger

Google has already brought features like Quick Share, which is called Android’s AirDrop. Now with the Continue On feature, Android is going to become even more smart and connected.

The Continue On feature of Android 17 can prove to be a big change for multi-device users. This feature will not only make the work easier but is also an important step towards turning Android into a strong ecosystem.
