Instagram’s Series feature can change the way you watch reels, know how
Millions of people using Instagram and Facebook watch reels for hours every day. Videos like cooking videos, travel vlogs, fitness challenges and comedy content have now become an important part of social media. In such a situation, Meta is working on a new feature, which can make it much easier for users to watch the entire video series of a creator.
According to a report, Instagram’s parent company Meta is currently testing a new feature called ‘Series’. This feature is currently being tried with selected creators. Its purpose is to link together videos that are part of a single topic or story.
Till now creators have to post videos related to a series as separate reels. In such a situation, users have to go to the creator’s profile and search for old videos to see the complete story or course. But after the introduction of the new series feature, this problem can be eliminated to a great extent.
For example, if a creator is running a ’30 Day Fitness Challenge’ or offering a step-by-step cooking class, they’ll be able to combine all related reels into a single series. After this, viewers will be able to easily watch the entire video collection by going to a separate series page.
The report also says that creators will be able to include not only new videos but also already uploaded reels in the series. Not only this, if a reel of a series appears in a user’s feed, he can also get the option to watch the entire series. With this, there will be no need to search for the remaining episodes.
This step of Meta is an indication that the company no longer wants to be limited to just short videos. The company wants users to remain connected to the platform for a longer period of time and creators also want to be able to present their stories or content in a better way.
Recently, Instagram’s Vice President of Product Tessa Lyons also said that the platform wants to become an important part of the long-form content strategy of creators. In such a situation, the series feature is being considered a big step towards reducing the distance between short and long-form video content.
Testing is still going on
Currently this feature is in testing phase. However, it is likely to be available to all users in the coming months, making the experience of viewing content on Instagram and Facebook easier and more streamlined than before.
