The design of Hero Super Splendor XTEC 2.0 is sportier and modern. It has attractive graphics, alloy wheels, colorful rim tapes and premium finish. Length-width-height is approximately 2042x729x1092 mm, wheelbase is 1267 mm and ground clearance is 180 mm. The look of Honda Shine 125 is classic and practical. Chrome visor, side covers and muffler cover give it a premium touch. It is a bit light (113 kg) and handles easily in the city.
Features and safety
Splendor XTEC 2.0 is much ahead. This includes a full digital meter, Bluetooth connectivity (call/SMS alerts), USB Type-C charging, AutoSail technology, i3S (Idle Stop-Start) and real-time mileage indicator. The Honda Shine 125 has a digital cluster, idle start/stop, USB charging and silent starter, but Bluetooth connectivity is weak. Hero is more convenient in daily commuting.

Super Splendor has a 124.7 cc air-cooled engine, which gives 10.84 PS power and 10.6 Nm torque. 5-speed gearbox, 12 liter fuel tank and weighs 123 kg. Whereas, Shine has a 123.94 cc engine, which gives 10.78 PS power and 11 Nm torque. It comes with 5-speed transmission and 11 liter tank. Both have good pickup, but the Super Splendor feels a little more powerful. Talking about mileage, Super Splendor gives a claimed average of 68-72 kmpl and Shine gives a claimed average of 55 kmpl.
Who is ahead in safety?
Hero XTEC 2.0 has new safety features like front disc brake (240mm), IBS/CBS, hazard lights and handlebar mounted engine kill switch. Honda has CBS with equalizer, side stand indicator with engine cut-off and good braking. Both are safe, but the disc variant of the Hero gives better stopping power.
Who is better: If you want more features, better mileage and sporty look then Hero Super Splendor XTEC 2.0 is a better option. Honda Shine 125 is strong in reliability, smoothness and value-for-money. The final decision depends on test ride and budget.
