Vaibhav Sooryavanshi fell six runs short of his maiden India A half-century against Afghanistan in the second match of the Tri-Nation Series in Dambulla on Thursday.
The 15-year-old took the attack to the Afghanistan bowlers from the outset, striking nine fours in a whirlwind 22-ball innings and putting India A in a commanding position early in the contest.
Batting on 44, Sooryavanshi attempted an upper cut off a short delivery but could only edge the ball behind to the wicketkeeper, bringing an end to another entertaining display of fearless strokeplay from the youngster.
