India A was handed a 10-run penalty after Vipraj Nigam was caught running in the middle of the pitch multiple times by the on-field umpire during the Tri Nation A Series match against Sri Lanka A in Dambulla on Monday.
The penalty meant Sri Lanka A would start its second innings with 10 runs on the board.
In the 35th over, Nigam took a single running in the middle of the pitch. This was the second warning the 21-year-old was give, resulting in the first five-run penalty. The delivery was declared a dead ball.
A couple of overs later, the umpire found Nigam again in the middle of the pitch running a single and handed another five penalty runs against India.
