Sooryavanshi dismissed for 38 against Afghanistan A as search for maiden India A half-century continues

After being handed two lifelines early on in the innings, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s luck eventually came to an end as he was dismissed for 38 runs against Afghanistan A in the fifth match of the tri-nation series in Dambulla on Wednesday.

The 15-year-old had a shaky start to his innings, almost losing his wicket in two separate incidents within the space of a few deliveries.

In the first of the two incidents, Sooryavanshi was caught at short backward point when he was batting on zero only to be recalled by the third umpire after replays showed the fielder had not completed the catch cleanly and some part of the ball had touched the surface.

A few deliveries later, he was dropped at square leg. However, despite hitting a few boundaries post the two reprieves, Sooryavanshi could not make the most of the dropped catches as he was dismissed for 38 off 28 balls by Faridoon Dawoodzai in the eighth over, once again failing to convert his start into a big score
