WhatsApp may soon launch a new Green Dot online status feature and backup management tool. Users will be able to view online contacts without opening chats and manage backup storage better.
Now it will be easier to identify online friends on WhatsApp
WhatsApp keeps introducing new features for its millions of users. Now the news is that this popular messaging platform owned by Meta is working on two new features, which can further improve the experience of the users. According to reports, WhatsApp may soon introduce a new Green Dot online indicator and advanced backup management feature.
First of all, let’s talk about the Green Dot feature, this feature will allow users to see whether a contact is online or not without opening the chat. At present, to see the information about a person being online, one has to open his chat, but after the introduction of the new feature, only the green dot visible on the profile photo will give this information.
According to the report, this feature has been seen in version 2.26.24.5 of WhatsApp Beta for Android. This feature will work like the online indicator present in platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Slack. However, if users wish, they will also be able to hide this online status through their privacy settings.
new backup section
Apart from this, WhatsApp is also working on a new backup management section. With the help of this feature, users will be able to view, delete their old backups and also make a copy of them if needed. With this, it will be easier to manage the storage space in the phone and Google Drive in a better way.
According to reports, the new backup management tool may also provide shortcuts for Google Drive storage controls. You can also access WhatsApp backup settings directly from Android system settings.
The interesting thing is that Google is also working in this direction. Through the new update of Google Play Services, Android users are likely to get the option to manage WhatsApp backup from device settings.
Although both these features are currently in the testing and development stage, it is expected that they can be released to all users in the upcoming updates. If this happens, viewing online status and managing backups on WhatsApp will be easier than ever.
