Apple may make major changes in its MacBook lineup this year. According to a new report, the company is preparing to launch a new laptop named MacBook Ultra. If this report proves to be true, then this will be Apple’s first MacBook in which OLED display can be seen.
According to the report of research firm Omdia, Samsung Display may start supplying OLED panels for Apple’s new MacBook from July 2026. In such a situation, this laptop can be launched in the third quarter of the year i.e. around September.
Till now Apple has been using Mini-LED displays in its MacBook Pro models. Whereas OLED screens were limited only to products like iPhone, Apple Watch and iPad Pro.
According to the new report, MacBook Ultra can become Apple’s first laptop to come with OLED technology. OLED screens are known to deliver better colors, deeper black levels and better power efficiency.
New MacBook can come in two screen sizes
According to the leaked report, MacBook Ultra can be offered in 14.3-inch and 16.3-inch display sizes. Currently MacBook Pro comes with 14.2-inch and 16.2-inch screens. In such a situation, the size of the new model will not be much different from the existing models.
What will be the advantage of OLED display?
The report claims that Apple can use hybrid OLED panel, which will be based on Oxide TFT and RGB Tandem OLED technology.
This display can consume less power than traditional OLED panels. This can improve the battery life of MacBook and can also help in giving the device a thinner design than before. Apart from this, by getting additional space inside, Apple can also improve the battery and cooling system.
May be launched in September
According to the report, Samsung may start supplying OLED panels from July. In such a situation, Apple can introduce MacBook Ultra during its big hardware event to be held in September, October or November.
However, Apple has not yet shared any official information regarding this device. Therefore, this information revealed before the launch should be seen only as leaks and reports for now.
