Sends alerts at the speed of light
Google’s earthquake notification service is quite special and after collecting this data, its message is sent to people’s mobile phones at lightning speed. This service of Google detects the speed and direction of earthquake with the help of nearby smartphones. As soon as it detects an earthquake, it sends the information to the mobile at the speed of light. Google has a network of 2 billion mobile phones, through which it collects earthquake data. After this it sends two types of notifications. One alert is sent related to a light earthquake and the other related to a strong earthquake.
Nowadays modern mobile phones come with accelerometer, which detects the rotation of the smartphone. Then the mobile screen is converted into landscape mode and normal mode. This feature also detects vibration and Google’s system detects earthquakes and phone vibrations with the help of this sensor. Google’s feature collects data from millions of mobile phones and assesses whether the vibration is from an earthquake or a mobile phone. Once an earthquake is detected, its message is sent at the speed of light to nearby mobile phones.
