ENG vs NZ, 3rd Test: Blair Tickner ruled out with concussion, Zak Foulkes named replacement

New Zealand fast bowler Blair Ticker has been ruled out for the remainder of the third Test against England at Trent Bridge after suffering a concussion.

Tickner, who was brought in the playing XI for the injured Matt Henry, was hit on the helmet by a Jofra Archer bouncer during the first innings on Day 2.

While the 32-year-old came out to field in the second innings and even bowled three overs, he was soon taken off and replaced by Zak Foulkes as a concussion subsitute.

As per MCC rules, in the event of a concussion, teams are allowed to name a like-for-like replacement for the injured player.

Foulkes, who was brought in using this rule, will be allowed to bowl and bat for the remainder of the Test in his place.

“Blair Tickner has been ruled out of the remainder of the third Test against England at Trent Bridge with concussion after being struck on the helmet while batting in the first innings, Zak Foulkes has been named as Tickner’s replacement,” New Zealand said in a statement on X.
