Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 — England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt to return for semifinal against South Africa

England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt has confirmed that she is fit to return to the team for its semifinal against South Africa at The Oval on July 2.

Sciver-Brunt was an injury doubt coming into the tournament, and did not feature in England’s preparatory series against England just prior to it. She featured in England’s two matches against Sri Lanka and Ireland but retired out in the second after feeling a recurrence of a calf muscle injury.

She did not feature in England’s subsequent three matches against Scotland, West Indies, and New Zealand.

“We literally threw everything at it,” Sciver-Brunt said in the pre-match press conference. “I’m really happy with where I am at physically. Myself and the medical team are really happy with where we’re at. Physically I’m able to take part in all of the game, so from that point of view I’m really happy.”

With Sciver-Brunt set to return, it appears that Sophia Dunkley, who has scored 57, 14, and 49 not out since returning to the team, will miss out.
