Gurnoor Brar finished with a match haul of 10 wickets to set up a comfortable 10-wicket win for India A against Sri Lanka A at the Galle International Stadium in Galle on Sunday.

The right-arm pacer picked up with six wickets in the second innings, following up on his four-wicket haul in first, to bowl the hosts out for 209. India A openers — Sai Sudharsan and Aman Mokhade — completed the paltry 33-run chase inside seven overs.

Brar completed his best figures in First Class figures when Sri Lanka A began the 177-run trail in its second outing with the bat. The tall pacer removed opener Sohan de Livera in the first over and sent back Nuwanidu Fernando an over later.

In his second spell, Brar claimed Ashen and Anjala Bandra in quick succession before returning to clean up the tail and finished with the figures of 6/68.

From the other end, Auqib Nabi, Saransh Jain, and Yash Thakur maintained pressure and also chipped in with wickets in between.

For the host, Ashen played a counter-attacking knock of 87 off 86 balls, including 11 fours and a couple sixes. However, he couldn’t find much support from the other end and eventually became Brar’s victim.

The final day began with India A at 541 for eight overnight, and Saransh and Yash at the crease. But Keshara Nuwantha trapped Yash in front soon for the visitor’s innings to end at 543. Ruturaj Gaikwad did not come out to bat after he left the field on 13, retired hurt.

By then India had taken a healthy 177-run lead, and Brar’s day out made sure the Dhruv Jurel-led side finished the two-match tour 1-0 after the first match ended in a draw.
