Suppose if a person buys an electric vehicle worth Rs 10 lakh in Delhi, the Delhi government will give him about 10 percent benefit. This means that he will get a subsidy of around Rs 87,000 to Rs 100,000 along with exemption in registration fees and road tax and he will have to spend around Rs 9 lakh for this new EV vehicle. However, even if a person buys a more expensive car, the benefit he gets will be almost the same, because the registration of a four-wheeler in Delhi is around Rs 4 to 5 thousand. Whereas ₹ 90,000 to ₹ 1,00,000 (10% to 12.5% road tax).

Under the new EV Policy 2026-2030 of Delhi Government, 100 percent exemption of road tax and registration fee has been given on all electric cars with ex-showroom price up to Rs 30 lakh.

Separate incentive will be available on scrap
There is also an incentive in this policy. If you get your old polluting vehicle (BS-IV or older) scrapped, the Delhi government will also provide you a scrappage incentive of up to Rs 1 lakh on purchasing a new EV. In such a situation, a new car worth Rs 10 lakh will cost you around Rs 800000.

Sirsa says that the main objective of the new EV policy in Delhi is to remove all the vehicles causing pollution from Delhi. Vehicles running on clean fuel should run here and the air here should remain clean.

Changes are also taking place in public transport
Sirsa said that the Delhi government is also making major changes in public transport in the capital. Delhi government itself is removing diesel vehicles from the road and bringing electric buses here. Apart from adding new EV buses, old buses are being replaced with EVs.
