According to Meta, Muse Image can create new images by combining multiple photos, remove unwanted objects or people from the background, create photos in new locations such as historical places, and even generate clear and readable text within images.
The company claims that this model understands complex instructions better by using advanced reasoning.
The company has also added more than 30 new AI effects to Meta AI, which can be used in Instagram Stories. At the same time, the facility of image generation during chat with Meta AI on WhatsApp has been started in limited countries and soon it will be expanded to other countries.
Muse Image also has a presets feature, through which users can restore old photos, try new hairstyles or transform themselves into different creative styles with a single tap. Apart from this, users can also see new interior designs with the help of AI by uploading the photo of their room.
Controversy arose in India also
After the launch of Muse Image, controversy arose regarding privacy and consent in many countries including India. Under the initial feature, anyone could @-mention a public Instagram account and use that account’s photos as reference to create AI images.
There was widespread criticism on social media regarding this and in India too, users raised questions on the use of public photos without explicit consent. The central government also talked about investigating this feature.
After growing opposition and privacy concerns, Meta admitted that this feature did not meet people’s expectations. Within days of its launch, the company announced the withdrawal of the feature that creates AI images by @-mentioning public Instagram accounts.
According to the company, Muse Image is currently available free for general use, while for heavy users it will be part of Meta’s subscription plan. In the coming time, it will also be made available on Facebook Advantage and advertising platform Advantage + Creative. Besides, the company is also working on Muse Video, which will facilitate AI based video generation in future.
