Indian pacer Kranti Gaud took a historic five-wicket haul against England in the one-off Test at Lord’s to help the visitor firmly take control of the fixture on Saturday.

She dismissed Tammy Beaumont, Maia Bouchier, Alice Capsey, Nat Sciver-Brunt and Lauren Bell to complete the milestone while also being economical. Her feat makes her the first woman to get her name on the iconic Lord’s honour board.

The 22-year-old is the youngest Indian female fastbowler to pick a five-wicket haul in Tests, pipping Jhulan Goswami who was 28 days older when she picked a five-for against England in New Delhi in 2005. She is one of only three Indian pacers to have a Test fifer, with the third being Gargi Banerjee. Jhulan had three in her international career.

This is also the first five-wicket haul for an Indian woman pacer in Tests since 2006 when Jhulan took five wickets in both innings against England at Taunton.

Kranti was also part of India’s triumphant ODI World Cup campaign in 2025.
