Andy Flower rules himself out of running for England Test head coach role

Royal Challengers Bengaluru head coach Andy Flower on Friday ruled himself out of running for the England’s next Test coach.

Flower had been heavily linked to take over the reins following the departure of Brendon Mccullum after a four-year stint.

The 58-year-old, who is also the head coach of Hundred franchise London Spirit, confirmed he would continue remaining committed to his current roles with the two franchises.

“The bottom line for me is that I’m very happy in the work that I’m doing at the moment… I’m really comfortable with what I’m doing. I have [ruled myself out], yes.,” Flower said during media day ahead of the new season of the Hundred.

Flower was England’s all-format head coach between 2009 and 2014. Under his tenure, England enjoyed a period of remarkable success, winning the 2009 T20 World Cup, clinching the Test series in India in 2011, also winning three consecutive Ashes series.
