India is staring at a massive chase after England racked up an imposing total in the first innings of the third ODI at Lord’s on Sunday, July 19.
Jacob Bethell, Ben Duckett, Joe Root, and Jos Buttler all hit their straps as England finished the innings on 387/3. Duckett was the top-scorer with 141 from 135 deliveries — his fourth ODI ton.
If India chases this total down, it will be its highest chase in ODI history. Its current record is 360, which it hauled down against Australia in Jaipur in 2013.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both scored tons in the chase, while Shikhar Dhawan also added 95.
Here are India’s highest successful ODI chases:
- 360 vs Australia, Jaipur (2013)
- 351 vs England, Pune (2017)
- 351 vs Australia, Nagpur (2013)
- 331 vs Australia, Sydney (2016)
- 331 vs Pakistan, Mirpur (2012)
